Hello Don, Thank you for your book The No-Salt,
Lowest-Sodium Cookbook. It was the first book I purchased after my husband
Andy's heart attack in 2012, and the one I use most often. Delicious! I've just
discovered your 2nd book on breads and will make it the next addition to my
kitchen library. — Sue McGuirk

I had always heard about lowering sodium, but
when I came across your website and you gave a real number (500) and what was
necessary for survival, I paid attention. Perhaps I'd do OK with eating flesh
and dairy on a low salt diet, but I do not. I'm quite strict with myself and I'm
not only ok with that, but I'm very happy about it. Dropping down to 500mg/day
has actually been easy for me, and helped me in other ways as well. — Michael

My Cardiologist has been a great help as have
you. My condition is Atrial Fibrillation. Two years ago I was diagnosed with
CHF. I have dropped from 305 pounds to 250 and now have been taken off the blood
pressure medication. They ran tests in November and discovered that I no longer
have CHF. My A1C was 6.1 with the help of Metformin. The Doctor says he thinks
if I can get another 30 pounds off that I might be able to get away from the
Metforman. My goal is 220 pounds by June 2014. Thank you for your efforts. I do
get some valuable tips from your newsletters. — John Hudson

Last Christmas a friend gave me your book
Living Well, I have since bought two others and love the recipes. I had severe
dizziness from Meniere's and now that's gone. It's due to the salt cutting and I
love you for it. Thank you. — Colleen Murphy

Hi Don, Here is a low sodium vegetarian recipe
I concocted that was really good. I thought I would send it to you and maybe it
would work in the newsletter. You would would of course need to do lots of work
on it. I am guessing on the amounts and did not calculate the sodium, but I know
you have a program that does that. I have finally retired from Kaiser, but want
to let you know that I used the cookbooks you gave me in almost every class I
taught on CHF and hypertension. And I believe many of my patients followed
through and bought a book. When I left in October I gave the books to some of
the other educators. I use my books almost every day. Thanks for making my job
of cooking for my husband much easier and better. — Mary Lou Bailey, RN

Hi Donald, THANK YOU so much for your quick
and helpful reply! My husband and I visited with my parents today and gave them
2 of your cookbooks and shared with them our emails. They were so impressed and
appreciative of you! I have subscribed to your newsletter and have shared your
website with my parents also. My husband and I are also planning on to
significantly cutting out salt in our diets, too. My husband wants to get your
books, too. So thank you again for taking the time to reply to my question. I am
much more hopeful I was than yesterday. Take care, — Jeanine Maschak

I have been on 500 mg of sodium for 5 weeks. I
quit taking Lasix. The first 4 days after quiting the lasix and lowering the
sodium, I lost 3 additional pounds. Did you continue to use a diuretic? Did you
limit you fluid intake? Thanks, David J Pedersen
Response to above: No, haven't had a
diuretic since I started on my program. No. It's not a good idea to limit fluid
intake.
